GroundWorks Executive Artistic Director, David Shimotakahara, hosts a masterclass at DANCECleveland’s Professional Development Day.
This professional development seminar is designed for dance students ages 12-18 & their parents or guardians. Each student registered must have one parent or guardian present. The day is designed to provide information from current professionals in the dance fields, help to answer questions about different career options for dancers, steps to take in high school, resume building for dance and much more!
9:00am: Welcome and Introduction
9:15 – 10:45am: Contemporary Ballet Master Class -with David Shimotakahara
10:45 – 11:45am: Dance Careers on the Stage – Professional Development Talk with David Shimotakahara, Bobby Wesner, Mary Verdi Fletcher, Edna Duffy, Dominic-Moore Dunson
11:45am – 12:15pm: Life as a Professional Dancer: Annika Sheaf and Dianne Mcintyre
12:15 – 1:00pm: Lunch
1:00 – 1:45pm: High School- What Can I Do Now? Preparing a resume, head shot, and audition video: with Antwon Duncan and Marlene Leber
1:45 – 2:45pm: The College Track Dance degrees, what colleges look for, daily life in college, the balance of scholastics & dance and more: with Robin Prichard, Jeff Rockland and Lynn Deering
3:00 – 4:00pm: Career Round About : Dance Careers Off the Stage- Health Careers, Production, Administration and Presentation: Jennifer Henry, Brian Murphy, Sarah Stewart, Linda Jackson, Janet Bolick
4:00 – 4:30pm: Reflection, Final Q&A, Conclusion & Thank You
