About Christine Mayer
Christine was born and raised in Akron, the youngest of ten children (none of whom are dancers). She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Duke University and her law degree from The Ohio State University. At neither of these places did she study dance.
For eight years after law school, Christine practiced commercial litigation and business law (but did not dance) with Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs. She has worked with GAR Foundation since 2001, where she now serves as President, but rarely has occasion to dance. Christine has been heavily involved in The Fund For Our Economic Future – a philanthropic collaboration focused not primarily on dance, but on improving the economic trajectory of Northeast Ohio. Christine has also dedicated a lot of her time in recent years to a broad-based community initiative to strengthen the arts sector in Summit County. The many discussions about dance are perhaps the closest she has come to professional dance.
Christine lives in Solon with her three beautiful children and her lively golden retriever, all of whom occasionally serve as impromptu dance partners.
